Got myself three Nandus SP. Slaty blue. (labeled that way in my LFS), If anyone knows any different please comment. Normal Nandus shape, Silvery white colour with black first four rays on the dorsal.

These things can eat, they haven't got the bottomless pit of a stomach like my snakeheads but these guys are taking shrimps nearly there own length.

Great little monsters :)

They are an undescribed species of nandus. I have had one for about 1.5 years now and it is doing great. Mine is about 3 inches more or less and eats everything from worms to krill and some pellets.
They are neat fishes that are rarely imported. Wes, from rare Fish, was the person that got them into the USA the only time I saw them.

Neat fish you have there so take good care of them as I would love to have 3 more for sure.

Must look great at 3". mine are all about 1.5". I was after Nandus Nandus originally but very happy to find these guys, its great to have undescribed species.

I have done my usual scan on google and can't fine anything on these guys, Eventual size, origin etc, Have you had any success in this area?

Hi,
I picked up 3 yesterday from Wildwoods, not sure how they are doing as yet as had to stay at my parents, too small to go in my tanks. Hopefully doing well, I guess I will be feeding them frozen bloodworn for now.
What have you been feeding yours? Just river shrimp?
Sounds like they grow very slowly, what colour do they eventually turn to?

Thanks

Thats where i got mine. They were very cheap. Some of them were tiny.
I was also thinking that this maybe an immature colour. but it sounds like they stay this way. Not the greatest of camouflage considering their family.

I picked the biggest three they had, I tried to introduce them to my dwarf snakeheads and they went for the bag ripping it so i have them in there own setup now.

They were feeding brineshrimp in the shop so thats the way i went first, I had some spare river shrimp so threw a couple in and they went for them. I haven't tried frozen yet, thats my mission for today. I will try Brine Shrimp and bloodworm.

I will update with any success.

Mine are in with 2 turtles! No where else to put them but I had to have them! Should be ok there as the turtles are very slow. Trying them on blood at the mo', brine sounds a good option. Let me know how you get on!
