Not all books have correct info. This fish comes from waters that are the opposite of BW.
 
Are you talking about the so-called 'Asian leaf fish', Nandus nandus? Then yes, you can keep them in a slightly brackish environment. I'm not sure if they can tolerate salinities stronger than 1.010 though, you'll have to do some further reading about that yourself .
