Hi!

Need some advice from Filipionos out there!

Next week we are doing a national dish lunch thing at our office - I want to bring a Filipino dish but am stuck trying to think what to bring.

Last time I did Pancit Mihon - so would like any other options.

Needs to be something quite easy to cook and not to "heavy" a dish.

Looking forward to all your ideas!

NBK, it wouldn't hurt to try balut (duck eggs) as side dish for sure. What about some longganisa, tocino, chicken adobo, batchoy, arroz caldo, dinuguan and beef tapa?

Edit: I realize this is lunch.lol Chicken adobo, dinuguan or batchoy work well.

Unless you have time to make up lumpia, how about a good chicken adobo?

I made chicken adobo earlier. Here’s how I cooked it...

Ingredients:
1 medium garlic, peeled and chopped
3 lbs. whole chicken
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup Silver Swan soy sauce
2 tsp. Pepper corn

1 tsp. Ground black pepper
2 cups water
1/3 cup Canola oil
bay leaves

Sautee garlic in oil until medium brown. Add the chicken and cook until it’s light brown then simmer. On a separate sauce pan, combine vinegar, soy sauce, ground black pepper and water. Cook in medium until it boils. Let it boil for about 2 minutes then pour it on the simmering chicken. Add Pepper corn and bay leaves and let it simmer, stirring occasionally until only half of the sauce is left. Serve over hot plain Jasmine rice.

Was thinking of doing chicken adobo... that is one thing I have actually cooked myself before (and tastes ok...)

Not sure about doing balut, I myself have never had the courage to eat it...

Phil, I didn't know you also are into Filipino dish! Nice to hear you love it!

20+ year PACFLT sailor. Did you think I've never had the opportunity to visit the PI? Enjoyed the people, sights, and flavors over there many many times.

Maybe I should have asked you about that before, Phil. Glad you had experienced a lot of these!
