NG is looking for hobbyists that are interested in having a film done on their hobby. Requirements are a 300 (or more) gallon aquarium with 10 or more red-bellied (Pygocentrus nattereri) piranhas of average size.

Those interested email me at opefe@charter.net. Be sure you include a valid email address, size of aquarium and number of red-bellies and of course your physical address.

Added note: Plant life (LIVE) must be Amazonian and/or you are willing to let them plant your tank.

Filming preferable in the Chesapeake Bay area. Or anyone in the East coast.

BUMP, who has 300g tank here with pygo nattereri?

Must be shortage of big aquarums eh?

lots of big tanks, the interest in p's has went way down

That's too bad. I may need to pull the plug on this if I don't get any takers for this documentary and direct them to another country. Sad though.

i would atleast wait a day or two. as said the interest in piranhas isnt as much as it once was, also some states banned them. i know there is still piranha demographic here tho.

you should through something in the documentary about stupid politicians banning them and other fish in general. a little education would go along way, for both politicians and potential hobbyists buying the fish.

really every pet store and live food grocer should have a poster that says " Dont release fish/pets in the wild, EVER!." you could even state the fine on it. this would most likely deter 99% of the invasive species problems.

Edit: I just googled the fish that is easy as pie to set up since it only a red belly pira and they are easy to get here could have them in less than a week

tell you what I have a 300g 10ft if they will stock it and plant it good to go I am game! Yes and up here in saskatchewan they are not illegal.

I would even entertain the idea of helping with the cost of stocking it.

hmmmm... I didn't even know frank had an account here....

300 seems sort of arbitrary. HarleyK has like a 240 stocked with piraya. Seems big enough to me...

National Geographic approached via Dr. W. Fink in Michigan. Its their documentary and I have no control or say on it other than finding a suitable hobbyist. Their requirements are as stated. The only thing they will stock is the plants needed to make it look natural. Anything else would have to be worked out with them. I'm just the messenger.
