Im setting up a native 30gal with crayfish, minnows, darters, and hopefully some sculpin. And I want to get native plants. So what is the best way to clean the native plants I find to add them to the tank without getting parasites. And what food should I use for the minnows darters and sculpin? And what temp should I keep the tank?

The minnows and darters will feed the Sculpin (I wouldnt recommend keeping them together).

I wouldnt add crayfish . Keep in mind how small and defenseless darters are plus they hang out on the bottom of the tank and easy to catch esp at night.

I keep brown darters who are found here in Florida among plants so I added wild caught plants last yr (Java fern I bought) .
After reading your post I realized I never thought of parasites . Either way its fine now but that's a good idea about cleaning the plants.

If no one here can help with that post it in plant forum they know plants.

Most darters like it as cool as possible but mine are from bit warmer and have done well at 75 during day and 70/72 at night.
You have to research the type darter your interested in . Mud darters -swamp darters -variegate darters and few others do fine at room temp.

I feed mine daphnia ,mosquito larvae which I culture outside and blackworms which I buy .
They will take thawed glass worms but they seem to prefer live so now just stick with live. Minnows will take flake, etc.

My 2 males and 3 females are in a 30 long.

I have crayfish in my tank with Johnny and greensided darters. As for native plants I just rinse mine off with clean water. I would not add a sculpin with darters or minnows though.

Not sure what species. They are just 3 crayfish I caught. They seem to be three different species. I'll to get some pics if you would like.

That will be a nice setup, make an ecosystem find out who eats who then you will see who you are cathcing for bait and who you are actually feeding;)
