Are there any native algae eaters? I am thinking about setting up my first native tank and just wondering. Also what type of cats or bottom feeders stay on the small side?

Just wondering about clean up from fish in general for a native tank I guess. Thanks

Native algae eaters are snails. For small cats I would look at the madtoms. All stay small except the stonecat madtom which can get 12 inches.

Thanks a lot. I see snails all the time when I go fishing but never thought of them for my planned native tank for some reason.

And I have never heard of a madtom but just looked them up. Looks pretty cool!

If you live in the southern states and have a small tank american flag fish are a good cleanup crew for algae, but they live in florida and are only about 6-8 cm long and will eat other plants except for tough plants
