Hello, it's hard to tell if I should be posting this in the brackish section or the native fish section, but hopefully someone can help me out. I'm ordering some minnows from a breeder in Ohio. The blackstripe topminnow and the dwarf livebearer. His website is www.zimmermansfish.com.

My question is, I have researched these fish and they are found in brackish water as well as fresh, and my plan is to slowly acclimate them to my brackish aquarium. Is this a bad idea? I'm sure they were wild caught in Ohio where there is no brackish water but if the same species exists down near Florida / The Gulf of Mexico could they be acclimated to brackish?

My SG is about 1.08 right now but I could lower it to 1.05. My plan is for the two fish I mentioned, as well as fiddler crabs, orange chromides, celebes rainbowfish, red-nosed and ghost shrimp, and possibly some other small gobies that don't demand a high SG. Thanks for the link.

Yep, Neale vis the best BW go-to-guy!
