So my friend is paying me to get him a muski for his tank. I have to hold on to for a few weeks before he takes it. I was going to put it in a large preformed pond liner with a big canister filter. What other requirements do they have? PH? Temp? ect?

Same as any other native fish. They can jump so watch out for that.

A pond is about the only place suitable for a fish of that size. There isn't an aquarium the average Jo would have that would be big enough. I know they are a cold water fish so I think that around 70 is a good temp for him. You will need some good filtration for a fish that size as well

I have a pike wich is basicly the same fish, he dosent jump or break the surface of the water ever, and he dosent need a pond even at 24" he has plenty of room in a 180g since they are not active swimmers, i keep his tank in a garage with no heat so the temp is usually around 70-75 at the most, if it gets higer than 80 it can kill them but your fine untill that point,

Except muskies and pike are not same fish. Muskies love to sunbathing more than the coldwater northern pike so there is a chance that the muskie can jump or break the surface of the water. I should warn you that muskies are fastest growing fish that can easily reach 12" in the fall when it was hatched in late May-early June.

I agree they are not gonna be exactly the same, i do keep lids on just in case, as for growth i read a study and im not sure the exact numbers but in the first year they will be 12-16 for males and upto 20" for females i think after that its a couple inches a year and water over 75 stunts the growth quite a bit, my pike grew from 16-17" to 23-24" in 12-13 months ive had him, very easy to deal with fish, i think more people could easily keep them, tards just start spitting out maximum sizes and you need a pond to keep one but unless its a 15 year old fish alot of people have tanks big enough to keep it in the house

on a side note careful if he is giving money for a native fish that could be against the law in your state (it is in Kentucky)
