Hi Guys.

So, how would I go about doing this? I would like to do it, it's a cheap way into 'the dark side', and the fish around here are cool looking. And taste good when too big.

Would I need a skimmer? And would I collect live rock strait from the sea?

my guess is collecting animals or live rock (which essentially consists of animals) is illegal, but i'd do it anyway, lol
i really envy you for living in such a cool place as australia, your animals are AWESOME
i was simply amazed by the amount and variety of creatures the 2 months i was there...even on a normal hotel beach you can see monitor lizards and parrots in the wild
the downside is, you can't keep most foreign species there, right?

It's not, under certain licence stuff which I don't understand. All I know is that I join a club that holds a licence and I can magically allowed to collect native species, which includes banana wrasse, clownfish yada yada.

We do keep foreign species, but they are smuggled in. :naughty:

you may have to quarantine the rock and animals first in another tank

Common sence

i know people say smuggling in new species is a problem but i think it is good you get a new chance to keep new rare species

Yeah, those guys obviously aren't true fishkeepers. All we are doing is just testing how secure is the customs office. Can't wait till gulper cats hit our shores.

yeah smuggling is a wonderful thing, can't wait for the day some dumbass releases a shoal of smuggled piranha into the murray river
if people were more responsible with releasing pets, foreign species wouldn't even be a problem in australia (if quarantined thoroughly)...gotta love those idiots who always have to ruin it for everybody :nilly:

anyway, btt
cool stuff with that "collecting club" :D
the best thing is, you can keep fish that grow too large for your tank, like green morays, groupers or even blacktip sharks, because you can just release/eat them when they become too big :D
so awesome, please post some pics when you're done :headbang2
