Any advice for tank mates?
Other fish that are found in NJ with the blackbandeds, that will get along with them in a 20 or 30 g. tank?
Thanks

I read they are illegal to collect now, is there anywhere local (in NJ) that I can buy them?
WIll there be problems trying to mail order them?

thanks

Banded killifish- Fundulus diaphanus
Rainwater killifish- Lucania parva
Eastern mudminnow- Umbra pygmaea
Pirate perch- Aphredoderus sayanus
Swamp darter- Etheostoma fusiforme
Tadpole madtom- Noturus gyrinus

I've only kept the last three, but I've kept relatives of the others. I believe they would all do well with your little sunnies.

Sachs aquaculture has them for sale online, I would like to add another suggestion to Notos good list, even though Ive never kept them one of the guys on Nanfas website kept some Bluespotted sunnies with his Blackbandeds and had no issues in a 25g., he recommended putting plants but Im sure rocks and driftwood would work well too. Least Killifish and Pygmy Killifish might be good candidates also.

Nj native tank its a great idea. I keep mine in 29 gal with b'spots ( no issues so far) and mudminnows, golden topminnows and a sawchek darter. tanks planted and with driftwood. As for buying them check aquabid i see them over ther from time to time( got mine from there)

I'm going to get a NJ Native Tank, as soon as I get a bigger tank. But yes, I would definatley put driftwood, but you can either get fake or real plants. I don't think it matters much.
