Native Plants vs LFS

Does anybody use any native aquatic plants in their native tanks? Any ideas of which plants would be good for aquarium use? Which would be easier, to collect plants from the wild, or buy from LFS? Thats assuming anything at LFS looks native enough..

Please correct me if this should be in the planted tank forum, but I wanted to ask you guys cause you know which plants might go well with bass, sunnies, catfish, etc.

This may need to be in the planted tank section, but here is one thing I know about using native plants:

Make sure they are native and check local laws to see if you can actually transport them.

i use them, it all depemds on the kinds of fosh you have, in my tank i dont have to worry so i now have 5 types of native plants. I hada crafish and he tore apart the fanwort in there and cut the lillypads. The biggest thing is, you have to Quarentine the plants before you put them with fish. You dont want any native diseases killing your fish. Id use eother, depends what kind of plants you like. if toou like the ones in your local lake, use them, if you like the ones from the lfs use them.

Definitely check to make sure you can remove plants from where you find them. A lot of state parks and such prohibit such activity. Hornwort and Elodea are common native plants and are perfect for aquarium use. Just know that some like the hairgrasses require high lighting.

my friend used duckweed in is aqaurium and it did fine
