does anyone know what the natural enviroments are for central american cichlids like red devils and trimacs???? or any central american????? does anyone have there tanks set up like a natural area??? post pics please

There are many biotopes in Central America and cichlids are found in most of them.

Red Devils are from Lake Nicaragua and Lake Managua. They are found over and around large rocks in this habitat.

Trimacs are found in rivers in Northern Central America (Mexico, El Salvador, ect). Many rivers in this region have large pieces of driftwood in them, but still have a decent amount of rocks too.

Almost all habitats is Central America have hard water. Keep this in mind when setting up your tanks.

yea..around large rocks and driftwood but must have large free swimming place.U really dont want to overdue the tank and have 1 foot of freeswimming space.I would get a large piece of driftwood or get large rocks becuase they feel more comfortable with shelter.:D
