Natural Shrimp fiter-your Ideas

I no longer use my ugf with a powerhead because the fish don't like the current. I Took out the tubes and everything, so it left 2 holes on either side of the tank. My tank stand only suppourts the frame, so that I can see the boottom of my tank. All of the major solids of waste settle under the ugf, making cleaning easier because I only have to put the siphone over the holes and get Blackwater. ,My bichers love to use the ugf panels as caves.
Heres The Idea-I take 1 or 2 dozen ghost shrimp, release them under the panels, cap off the holes for a week or 2. After the shrimp are fat and heathy from eating the solid waste traped under the ugf, I take off the hole caps and let my bichers go to town on very plump shrimp. benifets: clean ugf, fat and happy bichers.

What are your opinions? will it work?
 
I think without water flow anaerobic bacteria breakdown of fishwaste will occur under the plates releasing sulfide gas and foul your tank,not to mention the smell.
 
Plus it would probibly be hard getting the bichers out.
 
yeah, and youd probalbly have a buch of dead shrimp too living in all that waste, plus waste would continue to buid up in the tank when you "plug" the holes, you would probablly end up with more problems than anything else
 
the bichers go in and out all the time. I woun't have to fish them out. Ok, so wut if i just released them under the filter, no caps, and let the bichers pick them off as they please, and just let the shrimp clean while they laste
 
that might work if you dont cover the holes, but my bichirs at least dont like to eat things that taste wierd so all the detritus under there may deter them from eating the shrimps

They are swimming in it. I have a felling they are eating a little of it themselves as it is.LOL. OK, now the only problem is that GS are expensive here. Yuo may get them for $00.12 or less but here i have to pay a dollar per shrimp:screwy: Oh, well, I guess i well wait until its bogo month on all the fish and get some(I would still be paying out the ass for them:irked:
