Will the slime coating of a fish form back once it is lost from transportation or in a net?
Or do I need to add some artificial slime coating to replace it?

Wont take long... maybe a few days at the most! Curious....Why are you so anxious about the slime coat coming back? you can't even see it if its not there anyways!!

no; i will be netting out a 15" iridescent shark from one tank to a bag or bucket and to another tank and don't want it to get diseases.

As long as the fish is healthy and the water conditions are good the slime coat will heal quickly, before any infection can set in. It's when the fish is weakened or the water conditions are poor then bacterial or fungus infection can get a foothold through minor wounds.

A bit like ourselves, if we get a scratch on our skin it will heal fine if we are healthy and keep the wound clean. If we are physically weakened and covered in dirt, then a minor scratch can lead to a fatal infection.

Cheers
