has anyone ever seen natural springs like in Spring Lake, i want to make the same movement of water in one of my tanks that im setting up consisting of fish only native to the san marcos river, and one of the fish' is a SM darter, which lives purely most of its life around the springs in the lake...

i'm thinking some pcv and a high powered pump will give me the desired affects im looking for, but has anyone ever tryed this?

if your still lost after reading this, im looking for the upwelling water sensation that churns the substrate...

You could probably get that effect using ugj system. Aim jets up and pump the hell out of it!!:D With my ugj's I had to back the pump size down because it created a similar effect that your talking about. By the way my ugj's are feed from a pump in my sump. Hope this helps.

UGJ? under gravel jets?
is this a manufactured product? if so do you have a link to it? im thinking if i do make it myself, i could rig up mini type hot tub jets with a screen to prevent substrate from falling in and clogging the line...
for my sump im using an 1100gph 1" dia. outlets, i wonder if i T it off somewhere near the direct flow if that'll push enough pressure to push the gravel, or if i should just run a secondary pump from the sump to the return jets...

Heres a pic of the Under gravel jets I DIY'ed. The jets are loc-line from pvc. The green sand was epoxied to pvc to hide my system under some plants and such. The black pipe is the feeder pipe from the sump. The jets can be adjusted any which way to straight up as you would want. Hope this pic helps.

Also I forgot to mention this system was made to fit a 75 gallon tank of mine. And I got the jets and fittings to adapt from the pvc at www.savko.com
