i left early on christmas eve to head down to florida and i got back late last night. the first thing i did was to check on my big tank, obviously. everyone was good then i looked at the thermometer, the temp was at 73  i usually have the tank at 80-82. i noticed one of my filters wasn't running either. some how the extension thing got tripped and didn't come back on. luckily the fx5 was plugged directly into the wall. i flipped it back on and the temp now is just about 76. that was a close call...

I hate coming home to surprises like that. At least you didn't lose anyone. That's the worst. I came back from visiting my parents and had a heater heat the tank to 112 F. I lost anything living in that tank. All my goldfish, (set at 72 for them) mystery snail breeders and crawfish. I had those gold fish for over 5 years and they had come from my parents pond before they moved. Both were well over 6 inches. :( House smelled sooooo bad...

Wow! Close call. That would have been a disaster and a tragedy for all of those nice fish.
