Water changes in a pond are different than for a tank, the higher surface area of a pond helps with gas exchange but increases water loss thru evaporation which increases pollutant concentration

Basically get the pond up and running and adjust your W/C's to the pond's needs by testing the pond's chemistry.

That's a nice filter, I did'nt notice the cost of replacement elements tho.
