Ok guys need some advice. Getting a 2' Silver Aro. for my 400gal., this is a new set up. My 300gal.(which I will use half of seasoned water, half well water and bio-balls in 400gal.) well water has a pH of 6.1, the guy's water that I'm getting the fish from is city water pH of 7.2, what's the best way to adjust pH (raise mine), for the transfer. I don't want to lose this fish. Advice on water pH only, Thanks.

at 2 inch i wouldnt get it if you have no experience with aro since theyre VERY sensitive at that age. you can try an additive buffer? i herd bakin soda works too not sure. have you gone to your lfs and see what they have?

read it wrong then my apology at 2 feet hes very hardy and will adapt to you water quite well i wouldnt worry much

Don't add any buffers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Acclimate the fish when you get it, dump it in, enjoy.

Ok thanks guys! I'm goin to take 100gal. of his water, my pH tap water is more like 6.6, and he said his water pH is more like 7.0 so he feel the fish will do fine, if I just take my time and acclimate the fish. Doing it Sunday morning, I will update with success or failure. Just know my intentions are good. Thanks again.

+1
In my experiece adding buffers only hurt the fish. It is hard to keep it stable while adding buffers causing your ph to constantly shift up and down which is worse than a consistent ph (rather it be a little high or low).

Success!! The move was great, the pH in my tank shifted up a little to almost the same as his. I took about 100gal. of his water and he gave me his Fluval filter, which I left intact. Thanks fo rthe advice! I will post pics soon, and no buffers were added.
