hi everyone i am hopefully going to be setting up an indoor pond over the next couple of months and need help/advice with equipment and stocking decisions!

the dimensions will be 95"(L) x 60"(W) x 26"(H) which i think is around 640 gallons (correct me if i am wrong).

i will be using a 1000 gph filter and pump, a 3k pool heater and also i will have 2 powerheads powerd by a air pump for water circulation.

(IF THERE IS ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS SET UP PLEASE TELL ME)

now for the fish what i would like is

  • a lima shovelnose
  • a red belly pacu (if there is enough room)
  • my leopard plec i already have (7-8")
  • a small group of oscars
what do you think about my fish choices will they have enough room for life and will they get along!
i am open to all suggestions and the only fish that i definatley want is my leopard plec because i have had it since it was a 1".

THANKS in advance.

I think you got plenty of room for the fish you want. :D

thanks csx4236 i have just had a quick browse around the internet and the biggest filter that i could afford with my budget is 2000gph that should turn the tank over 3 times an hour do you think that will be ok until the fish get bigger and i can afford to buy a bigger filter.

to answer ka_rainwater i am using a metal frame pool like the one amazonfishman is using accept mine is rectangular not round .

i will post pics ehn its set up!

I would think those fish would work fine, my only concern might be that the depth might not be enough for an adult pacu.

Please keep us updated on how it turns out though, I've been playing around with the aboveground pool as pond idea for awhile, I would probably keep mine outside and have some cold-hardy species and natives.

hi CTU2fan thats what i was thinking and because i dont know the depth of an adult pacu i thought i'd ask because i wouldnt want to get 1 and then have to give it up if it outgrow it.

add a monster endli or two in there, along with a school of neon tetras
