I'm looking at a canister filter for my 55 gallon, right now it only houses a Red wolf fish but I'll probably add one or two more fish.. something to the effect of bichirs or a catfish of some type or something. So anyway I'm looking at either the Cascade 1200 or the Fluval 404, I know the 404 has a higher gph but I'm looking for the best filter as I'm sure either of those will be plenty for a 55. I'll probably team it up with a AC70 for extra filtration. So is either of those more efficient then the other? What about quality between the two. The price is about the same so thats not a concern.

Oh yea.. it currently has a AC110 but I'm wanting a canister that will be less noisy, the AC110 will replace a very noisy AC110 on my 50 breeder.

I've got a 404, it works great. Eheim 2217 or Rena XP3 would also be a good choice.

The Eheim 2217 is a steal at bigalsonline. Eheim is known for their quality products.
