Alright I'm making up an Aquarium at work 1600Lx550Wx660H mm and basically I have a few hundred bricks out the back that I want to make the stand out of but I wanted to now if it would be alright to just stack the bricks with no concrete.

After I stacked them I think im going to cover the 4 sides of the stack of bricks with MDF so it looks a bit better and the bricks wont be able to move, then put a bit of foam on top of the stack then wood on top of that then another bit of foam then the tank kinda like this.

Will this be stable enough?
The fish tank plus water will weigh around 680kg or 1496 pounds.

Honestly, if you're going to cover it with some type wood anyway I wouldn't bother with the bricks. Just make a simple 2x4 frame instead. It would be cheap and a hell of a lot lighter. :)
Also, you wouldn't need a layer of foam under the top board.

The thing is The only thing I would have to pay for is the MDF if I go this way.
Plus making a strong enough wooden stand for that much weight would take quite a bit of time and resources.

It doesn't that much time or resources to make up a wooden frame my whole stand thus far has cost me around $350AUD but thats including formply for the top as well as hardwood veneered ply for the outside and stain for a tank that will be 8x2.5.
Just the frame of that would of cost no more than around $80-90 and considering that u're length is well under the length of mine it would only cost you maybe 40-50 in wood and a weekend of time

the one i made, cost me about 300, but i used ikea cambinets in the inside for versitility and wrapped it in 2X4 framing, tood lessthen a day. but i guess your mind is made up.
