Hey Guys,

I wanted to ask, especially people who have a predator tank; What kinds of fish do you have that pick off scraps of extra foods left by the predators?

I was thinking damsels, but I think they are too aggressive and may get eaten by a lion-fish. Chromis are the same, but are peaceful...most of them lol.

My snow flake eel....he's another one, but I'll try to keep him well fed on silver sides.

Also bottom dwellers may do the trick......but most are to large like goat fish.

(I have a 72 Gallon Tank, if your wondering)

Larger wrasses are usually used for this purpose...Im using a trigger fish in with my grouper...but they are both being hand fed now. So not much for worries in the way of wasted food.

That being said triggers are messy eaters...so I will most likely STILL be getting a large wrasse in the near future.

...any recommended wrasse? I know how they say bio load is a problem....god bless i have the fluva fx5 running on a 72 gallon tank lol

Thinking about any of these:

(Only sell them 3 1/2 to 5in.....i think he may get eaten.)

(Nice colors, bulky body look....you think he'll be good?)

(Male looks nice, don't know if he'll be too aggressive....)

(Don't know if he'll be too aggressive)

...i think thats about it....

the eel ate a christmas wrasse before and a clown fish....lol together he had a nice $60 meal

Those are the kinds that you need. (The kinds that people keep in their trigger tanks.)

Just...play it careful. You might lose a couple, but thats a hard bullet to dodge. You can always suggest that they get a show piece sized one in their divers den.

ok thanks fleshy, you've been a great help so far with all my problems, between get a lion fish to eat, accumulating new fish and new fish additions. You never have any problems lol

By "suggest" you mean i can ask them for possible show fish?

There is a link on the bottom of their page where you can suggest things that they should get into divers den...species name...size...and then WaBAHM...it shows up. Or at least sometimes. Kinda a cool function.

And thanks, although thats far from true. I have been keeping fish, and salties for a long time...I have had TONS of different kinds of fish. I have killed many fish. In the process I was able to learn how not to kill them, or which ones to stay away from. I know what needs a bigger tank, and what doesnt. Or so I like to think. We are all still learning, and thats why you come on here...just learn about fish 24/7. :D
