I have a heater i bought from walmart labeled as a 30-60 gallon and it doesnt work to well. One day i will check the temperature and it will be at 73, the next it will be at 80. I need a good reliable Heater that will keep my tank at a steady 80-82 degress for a silver arowana. Im not sure if its how i place the heater, i have it upright and towards the filter. I was wondering if i place it sideways it will work more efficiantly?

What brand is the wal mart heater so that I can avoid it? I cannot think of heater names right off the top of my head but I will get back to you, there are several good heaters out there. Usually ranging from about 40-50 bucks. Most of the heaters in that price range tend to be pretty good.

I think its a tetra , im not sure if im just not doing something wrong though, i have them placed in an upright position. about an inch away from the filter

ebo jager and Stealth are my favorites.

What would be the highest recommended heater or a 37 Gallon? I'm assuming one that is capable of heating a 40 gallon atleast?

Thanks.

I would do a ~125 W heater. I personally prefer Eheim jagers to any other.

i personally find visi therm stealths, to be a very good heater
