Hey everyone, I was wondering if you guys could give me a possible ID on this group of discus I got. They were purchased as San Merah but look different to me. They are from a local breeder and I haven't saw pics of the parents but this strain bred true all came out the same and I hear that real san merahs don't breed true since most have red rose mix. They are still only 2-3" tall so it's tough to ID but if anyone has a idea please let me know thanks!

Joe

Hard to tell before they fully color up, but I've never seen a san merah with blue striations. My guess is either red or blue turq juvies.

As far as I am aware, the newer SM are PB.
So those youngsters can't be.
My guess is some sort of Turqs too.

Did you buy them without seeing the parents or seeing what they are likely to grow up into?

Thanks for the opinions everyone.

I saw a pic of the parents but they were almost black because fry were feeding off them in the picture I saw. I haven't saw them fully colored up. The breeder said he got them from Hans discus so they are from a high rep breeder. Questions is, who mixed up the name/fish lol. Did the breeder order the wrong ones or forgot their name? Or did he get the wrong fish. I know the breeder and he def did get them from Hans a year ago or so. I'll have to just grow them up and see what they turn into :) they are looking better every day, more blue lines coming through the face and along the top and bottom of body. The body it self is still a solid redish brown color.
