it's obvious which convict is the definite female but what do you guys think of the sex of the other one. it's about 2" and has no colour on it which leads me to believe it's a male, however the shape indicates a female.

also can anyone sex this festae? it's around the 4" mark

sometimes it just takes a while to upload. After I press "upload" i usually have to open a new window while I wait several minutes for the attachments get loaded to the post. See if that works. I wanna see your 4" Festae.

Looks like the larger Con is male. Festae too; looks male based on the absence of black on the dorsal and red on the body. Your Festae also has the green hues that I associate with the males. The thing is, when you think you've got them figure out they'll bar up and show reds that are otherwise subdued. Always been a hard fish to sex for me.

the only thing thats putting me off it being a male is the blue spangling. shouldn't it go all the way through the body, not just on the fins? also some females have blue in the dorsal, not black. this one is the less dominant of my 2 festaes, the other being a female. here's a pic of them lip locking, with the one in question on the right.
