I have a 110 with eight discus (young ones), six neons, and four black tetras. It is a fully planted tank. They plants are pretty new. I have been changing water about every other day. (about 25%) I have been getting a few spots of what looks like air bubbles, but I think it's some kind of algea. Is there an algea eater I can add that won't mess with the plants. Or do I need to just do more water changes???

Crossocheilus siamensis aka Siamese Algae Eater should solve any Algae problems, Plecs can help also. Planted discus tanks can be a real pain, beautiful but hard to do IMO..

Cue 4 million peeps who will tell us how easy it is;)

Planted discus tanks are easy if, and ONLY if you have a vast knowledge of planted tanks, and their operation, have all the proper equipment, and know all of your nutrient levels, including TDS. For most normal people, this is not an easy setup to pull off unless you sacrifice the plant's or the discus' health.

All the plants are low to medium light plants and all are on the easy side to raise. I have a 25 gallon W/D and a Fluval 304. I have T-8 lights that run for 8 hrs per day. I am learning as I go. I'm not the expert that you are Wyldfya, but this is the only way I know to learn. I researched all the plants and got the help of the people from aquaspotworld.com they were very helpful. So I guess you will be hearing me chime in for information from time to time.

Never hurts to ask questions. That is how we learn. I know nothing about live plants, but love discus. I would love to see a picture of your tank with the fish...bet it looks awesome.

Thanks, I will post as soon as I find my cord. I think it came out pretty well.

Also you have to take consideration that the high temps discus enjoy a lot of plants won't tollerate, they will just exhaust themselves out. But as what's already been said some plants are suitable. just do some research. If you look in photo lounge on the forum i've posted some discus tanks ( planted tanks) to give you some examples. I feel they have been quite successful.

I worked with Ben at aquaspotworld and he knew exactly what I was doing. He helped me chose the right plants for my lighting and for the temps that the discus were going to be kept at. I will check out your pics. Hope I can find that ---- cord so I can post some of my own.
