Well i was fishing in my lake in my backyard and i saw this huge fish probuly around 4 feet in length, I then researched about it and came to find out it was a snakehead fish. Never heard of them before a couple days ago. Ive caughten like 10 of them from 2 feet to 4 feet on live shiners. Today i was fishing and happen to see a huge one and it had thousands of babys by it. I took a cast net and caught a bunch and now i got like 20 in a 75 gallon tank set up alone. Can someone help me find out what type of snakeheads these are and how big they get and what i should do. I only plan on keeping one in my tank i dont know what to do with the others i have. Heres some pics.

Sorry about the bad pics they were taken with a crappy phone camra.

take the pictures down and delete the thread, its a channa maruilus, they are illegal in the USA :)

inform teh gov, or sell em.... moral choice..... either way del the thread is right advise......

I dont think its that serious or else they would have said somthing about it cause theres tons in the lakes down here in florida. Everyone ive seen latly has babys by it.

They have said something about it. The FEDERAL Govt and the State of Florida both have said that it is against the law to posess any species of Channa. Luckily for you, you have openly admitted in a public forum that you have snake heads and show no intentions of killing said fish. I sure hope you dont mind paying some fines!

What he said :)

notify your local fish & game office immediately and destroy the ones you captured and turn them over to fish and game. You are in violation of state and federal laws and could be facing large fines and possible jail time-Anne
