As the thread title states, I need a new centerpiece eye-candy fish from Central America for my 36" 40 gallon tank after my EBJD died. It is plantless right now. I am getting a pretty good filtration system, so I don't need to worry about excessive wastes. The only other members that will be in the tank when it is done, hopefully are verying sizes of herotilapia multispinosa. It is obvious that I don't want a fish aggressive enough to eat/stress my fish to death, and it is also hopeful (but understandably probably not possible) for a fish that won't eat the eggs of the multispinosa when they spawn or their fry. I'm okay with a single centerpiece specimen or a pair, whichever. I really want a fish whose color will stand out from the yellow multispinosa. Some possibilities I thought of was a pair of firemouth cichlids, maybe a regular Jack dempsey, a pair of honduran redpoints, idk. give me some suggestions. thanks!

How about some large schoolers and maybe a severum or some firemouthes? And a cool pleco, like gold nugget.

Some kind of thorichthys.....

don't you think a gt would be too aggressive for my tank?

These are interesting, could you give me any more information?

I have one! They are beautiful fish with loads of personality and are true glass bangers and love to explore their tank. I had mine eat on it's first day!! They need a good diet, lots of filtration and lots of driftwood etc. They are not very good with plants, although some people do have luck with plants. They need at least a 55g when full grown but your tank could be a growout. They are called green terrors for a reason, so becareful with tankmates.

here are some pics of mine:
