I'm just tired of my silver dollars. They rarely stay out in view, I can't have live plants with them and they've been nibbling on my bichirs fins.

What is a good midwater fish to replace them with? This is an oddball / catfish tank. I'd like some Hujeta's or some type of pike or something similar but I'd be worried about getting them off of live food.

An odoe should fit the bill nicely. They seem to hang out in the mid to top region of the tank.

Not really interested in peacock bass for this tank, the odoe was one of my first thoughts.. but are they hard to get off of live food?

I had one hujeta in the past and it took krill. But that was the only thing aside from feeders.

Tank is gonna be a 72x18 footprint for now.

What about some type of a semi peaceful cichlid.. any recommendations there? Doesn't have to rare, just something to keep the tank moving.

Not too hard,I got mine on freeze dried krill and one of these days I will try to convert him to floating pellets.

Vieja species are nice...

The problem with cichlids is that sometimes without dithers, they will generally be in the lower half of the tank hiding...when I had mine CA cichlid tank, they did that until I added...sigh...silver dollars...
