If you decide to sell fish (or any other "small" animal you decide to breed, such as tarantulas or reptiles (not dogs or cats)) do you need a permit if its not your "full time" job? Like, if two of my pets happen to spawn (like guppies or oscars or convicts or iguanas) can I sell the offspring without needing a permit/license?

The laws might be different from each state but if your just selling random offspring you don't need a permit. If your doing it all the time for your main income then you will need a EIN (business tax number), and claim it as yearly income.

I don't think you need a permit to sell those fish you mentioned even within your state. Most people even sell their snails and they do not need permits from the USDA.

i guess if they are legal to keep in your state, and you are just selling them off to other hobbyists, its totally fine.
unless you yourself needed a permit to keep them.
then im not sure...
