Im trying to get my pair of L profundicola to breed for me.
I know they are substrate egg layers in the wild.

Do you think I can get them to breed in a bare bottom tank ?
I have some ceramic caves and upside down flower pots in the tank,
or do you think 3 or 4" of substrate is a must. thanks Bob

i don't think substrate is needed as most of the breeders when breed cichlids in captivity generally use bare bottom to lessen the mortality rate,so,i think u can try it in a bare bottom too

Ill keep it barebottom for awhile, see if I get any action.
Thanks for the reply.
