:( Does anyone know anyone around Riverside California who can fix an acrylic tank" I have a 300 gallon that the back glass broke so it is a pretty significant repair.

Alternatly I'm looking to replace it with a glass tank. Deminsions are 96" long by 24" wide by 30" high. A used tank and a smokin deal are what I'm looking for.

I doubt u can ever really REPAIR it.. to order a glass like that is pretty expensive..

I would say that it is possible to get plastic acrylic sheets to fix instead... it is possible.. u just have to use the right sealer to fix.. they are available in home deport..

U want to post a pic online.. maybe i can better see the damage?

well.. it is possible to fix a 300 gallon glass with acrylic... it wont be as strong as the glass...

I honestly dont konw if its worth fixing a back broken side of a tank..

A giant sheet of acrylic cost about $70 bucks in home deport.. how much is a custom order glass?

Acrylic tank? Glass tank? I'm confused! An acrylic tank and the back "glass" broke?

Is an Acrylic tank and the back broke! It has a pretty big crack on the back from the top almost all the way to the bottom. Sorry for the confusion. I have someone to fix it but the cost is about 1/3 the cost of purchasing a glass tank. Cost is a big issue.

How thick is the acrylic?

i'd say just go with a glass tank.. most acrylic tanks are really a huge rectangle cube molded out.. fixing the back might be more trouble than its worth.. if the tank isn't leaking.. i'd say use sealers to mend it and buy small pieces of acrylic sheets to glue it back..

If the thing is leaking.. well.. it just might be hopeless to repair..

Can u post a picture of the damage? i really would like to see it.. send me a PM

The back is 1/2" thick. The guy who looked at it for repair said he would need to ad a couple of cross braces on the top. He won't gaurantee the work but thinks it's definatly fixable. The tank is nice, it has museum corners.

I don't think 1/2" is thick enough for a tank with those dimensions. 1/2" would flex too much for something that is 8' long and 30" deep!
