Need advice Carbon or No Carbon in filtration for Ray's?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Carbon is a tool with a purpose imo, as opposed to a helpful addition to any freshwater system. Great for soaking up meds after a cycle.

I have just chucked a load of carbon in a sack in to my sump just to polish up the water as the bamboo I put in the tank gave off a little tannins. Carbon is great for things like this but I wouldn't use it as a long term filter media. My sump is full of filter sponges, large plastic pond media and ceramic media.

What were your thoughts as why to use it?
