I am seeking a reliable custom tank builder. The aquarium will be placed into a three sided object and the front viewing area is relatively less (front of aquarium) than the actual width (front to back) so there are few choices in pre-manufactured tank sizes. I believe acrylic would fair better as I am trying to limit the weight and the tank that I'm seeking to have constructed is fairly small by way of typical custom tanks-likely no more than a 60 gallon, possibly much less. I plan to house FW fish with plants. I am only seeking the tank with a cover (lid) and possibly a lighting fixture. I am not in need of an elaborate, high dollar filtration, RO, or CO unit and plan to maintain the tank myself. I was researching reviews and actually found an Ohio custom builder that I had recently contacted being discussed on this site from some years ago and thought it best to make an inquiry through the use of this site to find out if anyone might suggest a custom builder in Ohio.

Check out Aquatica Aquarium Gallery in Valley City. Steve will build custom acrylic tanks to customer specs. I've seen some of his aquarium builds, very nice though I haven't used his services yet.

I definitely suggest checking out any builder first to see if there has been complaints, especially on fish forums or with the BBB.

What area of Ohio are you in?

Thank you! I will contact them. I am in North Central Ohio (Richland County) halfway between Columbus and Cleveland.

Thank you for confirming this paulW as I almost did until googling reviews and discovering it might not be such a good idea.

Yea, I bought an aqua art tank used. The seller claimed it had been set up for a few years.
Two years later, the top cracked spontaneously and the tank was ruined. Another manufacturer asked some questions and told me basically there was some shortcuts done which compromised the tank.. A hard lesson to learn. Buy from someone that has a lot of positive feedback and has been in business a long time. I used Midwest custom aquarium for the replacement (I think that was the name). There's a lot of fly by night small companies that don't really know what they are doing, and the failure can take years to happen. You can't just rely on a quick fill up and leak test.
