We have 2 true Parrots the larger one is about 9 inches and the smaller one about7. They are about the same age in fact the smaller one may be older. So we are hoping they may be a pair. What I would like to know is what does it take to get them to spawn. Will they need RO water the tank warmed up ect.

I have a close friend who has spawned a pair a few times(im actually raising some of fry at the moment). We live in a hard water area and he doesn't filter his water. I know his didn't start spawning until year 4 and are actually in a community 220g tank and wild caught. They are cool fish.

How warm does he keep his tank as I read that the water has to be almost 90 degrees.

I think he is running at 82. I can ask, next time I see them. His pair spawned without being triggered. I think main thing is giving time to mature and a healthy diet. Also they seem susceptible to bacterial pitting, so keep water pristine at all times.
