anyone has any advice on getting NTT to go stable? my 6x NTT (3" - 6") go unstable all the time for almost a year now. i am losing interest in them bc of their unstable condition. i do love the look of the dats when they are stable with gold color and solid black bar, but when they are unstable, they don't look that good. NTT all eat pellets and freeze dried shrimp. no tankmates bother the dats at all.

tank info:
135 gal. (72" L x 18" W x 24" H)
2x Aquaclear 500 HOB filter
1x Jebo 858 canister filter
30% water change every week

current tankmates:
1x 15" black arowana
1x 8" florida gar
4X 7"-11" kapampa frontosa

future tankmates:
2x 7" kapampa frontosa

Do a search on"stable"...

There's tons of good advice. But remember , done dats will just never be stable in your tank, or the tank it's in.... What ever u do...

that's the same dims as my tank. i think if you cycle good enough to get the ammonias and nitrites to zero, you should be able to add more fish, and the dats should be stable.

if you want a temp fix then dosethe tank with a small amount of melafix the NTT will go stable for 3-4 days

sometimes this will keep them stable for longer some tigers just need the nudge in the right direction

im not saying treat the tank with meds for no reason but it seams their is something in melafix that NTT like

That trick Never worked in my tank.

all the Thinbars that I've had are never semi stable. They either are or there not, ime.

hi Tim, how's the kapampas doing? if you can try taken the gar and the arowana out to
see if any changes.

hi mrcrane. the kapampas are doing fine. thanks.

before i got the blk aro and the gar, the dats were alone with the frontosa and they were not stable then, eventhough both the dats and the fronts get alone well. the aro and gar don't seem to bother the dats at all.

instead of treating the main tank with melafix, i removed the dats into a separate tank by themself and treated with melafix but that doesn't seem to work either. thanks anyway. i am leaving them in the separate tank for now to see what will happen.

are you saying that after a year they go "unstable?" i'm still learning that term, but i guess keeping a fish healthy for a year is a good thing too.
