So I'm getting my self some red cherry shrimps tomorrow I red quite a lot about them for a while now and I'm just wondering if Someone on here can give me some advice on them that I might have missed while doing research on the net. I'm going to add them to my Guppy tank and I'm not to worried about the babies getting all eaten. I have a extra few breeder where I can add them in if I feel like breeding them. What I want to know is if they will be munching on my guppy fry and how long it takes them to reach maturate. I will eventually give some of them a tank of their own. I also want to know if they always stay at the bottom or do they sometimes venture to the surface as I'm considering putting a weir into their tank to keep the babies from being sucked into the filter.

*they catch what they can and eat. However, they don't have ability to catch a healthy fish nor fries, especially guppy fries most of the time stay on water surface if you put some hornwort on water surface.
*shrimp don't wander near water surface if you have a right environment for them at the bottom.
*if your filter input too strong it might suck up the fries into it if the fries wander near it.
*It will take quite sometimes for a guppy fries mature (few months). If you meant the shrimp babies then keep their babies is not an easy task for inexperience keeper.

red cherries won't touch any fish, and I find them at all levels of the tank; even in areas with strong flow. Baby shrimp are very small, and can get sucked into filtration easily

What convict said. Matter of fact, on some of my tanks I find more shrimp in filter media than in contrast cute in the tank.

I've never seen one of my cherries even bother an Endler fry. Guppies may play with shrimp fry, but you will still be able to establish a good colony.

Good luck!

Add some moss to the tank for the young shrimp to hide in and give them shelter...

Adding a fine metal mesh filter cover to your filter intakes also helps if possible...

Make sure the tank they are going into is a mature tank so that they have the best chance of survival... coz while Cherries are quite stable these days, they do like quite stable conditions...

Thanks guys! I forgot to mention I have a mystery snail would my shrimp be ok with him in the tank?

I already have a filter that is safe small fry and the tank has been running for a while now.

U might also get a bamboo shrimp, they also don't attack fish.to feed them just crush up some flakes and swirl it towards them
