I'm about to get one that's about 3 inches for $25. Is that a decent price? How can i tell a male from female?

Depends on your local market supply. I'd bet I'd see that price at a LFS in my area. But caution, if you get em, I'd think twice about whether to throw him in that 500g you described in your other thread. That devil could mistake him for lunch.
I'm fixing to go to home depot to pick up some large boulders/rocks hoping to mimic a natural barrier to tone down aggression. On a scale from 1 to 10, I'd give my RD an 8 in bullying other fish..not too bad ,,ive seen worst. My rosequeen is a 9 
just read this thread and yes you paid to much for a 3 inch jag unless there not available in your area then i guess it was worth it. its also to small to sex right now
Yeah, the price seems a little steep but if its a nice specimen of a fish you like then enjoy it. Oh, and I agree with fishguts, you should put up a picture. I love seeing new additions.
3" jag in my area is around $3.50. They are pretty common here. I hope that it lives a long life in your 500. It should get pretty big in there as long as it survives the 12" Red Devil.
