I recently bouht a 10g aquarium (full filtration, lighting etc) and have kept some bullhead in it for a week or so now. I have since then bought a pictus catfish and put it in with the bullhead. He seems to be fine (swims enthusiastically, defends territory, etc) yet he will not eat. Tried shrimp pellets, different meats, but nothing. It mignt just be him getting used to the tank but I thought I would make sure. Any advice would be appreciated.

P.s. i know a ten gallon is small but what are ya gona do? Im broke

Not to flame you or anything, but if you're broke, you shouldn't be keeping fish. This hobby's not cheap to do right. But yeah I think your pictus is just adjusting. Although they need to be in groups of 3 or more to do well. I suggest getting a 55g or something off craigslist or your local small ads for about $50. That way you can have more fish, and they'll have more room. If you cant afford a cheap second hand tank, then rehome your fish and get something more suitable for that size tank. Like tetras, guppies or corydoras catfish.

Alright man, thanks I will search around for a bigger tank. I didnt realize they were that cheap.

Welcome to MFK!

I agree with the advice given above.

55 gal new is around $100. Used can be quite cheap or even close to free.

Good to see you're wanting to do the right thing for your fish mate. And Welcome to MFK, and this wonderful hobby!

I see complete tanks advertised for a dollar a gallon on CL all the time......Your fish will eat once placed in an healthy environment. Most pictus are not fussy eaters.....
