Hey guys... I used to always be on this site but then my Flowerhorn died :( from hole in the head. So I let my tank sit for 6 months with no water in it... Well I put it all back together yesterday and it's in tip top shape it's 50 gallons with 2 large hanging filters. I let it cycle and decorated it with large rocks and some new plants. I have 8 tetra's in there right now stabilizing the bacteria. I am on the fence about a community tank because I love aggressive cichlids but I want a good amount and I know I only have 50 gallons to play with. If I make it a community tank it will be tetra and Angelfish. But I was wondering if you guys/girls can let me know if 1 Jack Dempsey 2 firemouths 1 Hartwegi and 2 convicts will be overcrowded in my 50 gallons?

No convicts. They're a lot more trouble than they're worth and I had a pair of them before terrorizing many other cichlids in one tank when there was plenty of space for everyone.

Have you considered just severums with Bolivian rams and then some large tetras? I've combined severums and angels with no issues before. You can consider that.

Severums would be great for the tank. Another option if you want some aggression is a smal pike like bellycrawler

Severums for the Angelfish setup?
It's the space that's very important but I kept a breeding pair of gold sevs with angels with no issues before. This might be an exception though because I find them lousy parents. They can't guard their eggs stuck on rocks properly.:screwy:

you could do a jack and 2 sevs. They both grow slow compared to other cichlids so it will lasta while so you have tim to upgrade
