Thinking of venturing into the world of cichla but would like some advice please. dangerous dan at tropical imports has got some orinoco's, azuls and ocellaris all about 4" but i'd like to know a bit more about max size, temperament but mainly would they go with my mbu, channa auranti, a couple of big cichlids such as 12" bocourti, 11" geo, 9" gold sev and some polys and cats all about 12". tank's 7" x 2.5" x 2.5".

Don't know about them mixing with the channa/mbu. Don't put them with anything that can eat them at that size. I think if the cichla grow with the other cichlids it hopefully won't see them as food later. But again the mbu/channa might be a problem.

If they are the same ones pictured... none of them are azuls... sorry...

The tank you have should last a pair for life IMO... Good luck with them! :)

I was pretty sure they weren't azuls, looked more like tem's i thought but that's from a very untrained eye! what are they and would £40 (about $80) each be a good price or should i pay £15 ($30) each for the orinoco or ocellaris. what is their maximum size?

They look like Pinima's to me... (lower amazons). That is still a semi-rare cichla. $80 is a bit high for them at that size, but its not always about the money.... Just how much of a rare collector you are...

If I was in your shoes, I'd get a few of each and just keep the nicest looking ones when they get a little larger...

All those cichla will grow to at least 25", maybe more if given the space! :)
