Well I got this cousin that I got into fish keeping when I saw him last year after 7 long years. He's got a 180 gallon glass tank and he's housing an RTG, RTGG, discus, and a tigrinus catfish. The big boy in the tank is a 14" RTG and is generally peaceful. He got word that his supplier's friend is selling his 13" leichardti. Now he's asking me how they would do in his tank.

I got no experience in an arowana community but what should I tell him?

Salamat po mga parekoy!

noah i think it might work if both aros are peaceful, why not? my friend has a 20" HBRTG with a 13" jardini

What else does your friend keep in that tank, and how big is the tank?

Hi,its possible,try it.
It's possible that one, if not both may die from the fighting

You'll never know if you don't try. With pelnty of tankmates in there I think it will work fine. Especially with the RTGG that likes to become a referee.

The only problem I'm seeing are the discuss. The lei or RTG might harass them to death.

If you're in the Philippines, build a bigger tank like 300g or 500g or bigger and add more aros. Might as well add some dats or stingrays or maybe gars or bichirs.

If I'm you, I'll build a concrete indoor tank with a glass front to see the fish. Maybe a 5000g+.

I guess I'll tell him to try try it. He can definitely upgrade but I think he's taking it slow. He's only been keeping fish for 6 months.

Leis are definitely hit or miss. Some are very aggressive and some aren't. My lei took a year to associate into my comm. I had to put her in the tank 3 different times before it worked. The last time I kept her separated on one side of the tank for a month. After that she was fine with minimal fighting.

yea i agree my lei was pretty aggressive beat up my silver than i waited til silver grew bigger then da lei just didnt bother to attack the lei

I had a jardini at first and it was too aggressive so I traded it in (plus $$) for a HBRTG. If your friend wants another aro, I would suggest he wait and get another RTG or a SR. They are not as aggressive but the two aros may still fight. It's a gamble either way.
