this has been in my tank for a 2 months heald down by a big rock (in pic) by mono. im scared to cut the mono and see if the wood still floats. so i want you guys opinion, how long do you think this wood will take to become waterlogged?? i DONT want to cut the line just to have it float up to the top and back to square one. do you think i should risk it? any way to tell by the exterrior? i reeeeeeely want the big rock and the d wood by itself. for reference the tank is a 90 and the wood is a good 10in thick in the thickest part.

I would cut the mono and in the event that your log still floats which is a possiblity, screw it to a peice of flag stone flat and easy to hide under the gravel. It can take a very very long time to get the wood water logged.

anyone else?

From the look of that wood it might not stay sink. Try taking the rock off, if it floats then its more likely not to float by itself. Get a piece of slate and screw that wood in a flat slate using a stainless steel screw.

It may NEVER get waterlogged! Harsh reality!

If that is the case, and you are "tiying it down" with something heavy. Make sure it's VERY secure!!! You don't want it getting free and popping up to the surface and cracking a brace or something!!! (Has happened! ;-) )

Cheers, good luck!
Pete.
