currently i have 4 4" rbps in a 55g tank, I saw sb has a 6-7' rbp for sale. I wonder if I can get it and put it with my current shoals. will they live together? I dont have extra tank to split them in case they dont get along. input is appreciated.

Yes they will be able to live together and shoal but NO to the fact that a 55 gallon is not big enough for 5 reds, nor 4 for life. If you do i would recommand you getting a bigger tank fast.

NO!...save up the cash and upgrade the tank first. REDZ are everywhere you can get them anytime any where. If you buy him it will ruin your shoal envoriment, thing is be different in your 55g....also soon or later you will loss one or 2 cause of aggression and territorial. as of right now NO is your answer!.

he only asks for 15 dollar for a 6-7" rbp. so i think it is not a bad deal. I may get it for 10.

That is the good side...but jus think about the bad side? does it worth it if the new guy kill him and end up dead. or the new guy will kill your other reds? it's just a matter of time bro!...

Like i said Redz are easy to get and cheap every where. reds grow very fast and those will out grow your 55g in no time.

It up to you my friend, im just putting my 2cent for ya,:headbang2

my reds grow very slow. I got them last oct and they are only 4" now.

I have had mine for half that time and they're all approaching 4" or at 4". What are you feeding yours? Stay away from feeder fish, I have raised mine on hikari pellets, shrimp, krill, talapia. I would think that slow growth rate has to be directly related to their diet.

beefheart is main course. pellets too but they dont like. feeder fish once in a while. shrimp twice everyweek. i housed them in a 20 g before for 3 months. they are in 55g for 3 months now. with three 6" oscars.

your fish are stunted, i can already see three possible reasons why... (1) you kept them in a tiny tank to begin with and now they are in another tank that is too small for them, especially if there's other fish in there, a 55 is far too small to overstock. (2) their diet is terrible, beefheart should only be fed once in awhile, once a month at the very most, and feeders should be eliminated completely. you should stick to mainly pellets or raw shrimp as their staple and mix it up with tilapia, catfish, and krill. (3) having oscars in with your piranhas is a terrible idea, especially if the oscars are 2 inches bigger than them, i'm sure your piranhas are stressed out to all hell and that can also negatively affect their growth.

buying another natt would be stupid, you need to fix your current situation before you buy anything else.
