i could use some words of wisdom about my Festae pair lol. I love this male, and tbh i luv the female too. I just cant shake the feeling tht they rnt right for eachother. they show all the signs up until they spawn. Then it becomes a sh** show. She has eggs right now. I am not sure if they are fertile yet. she wont let him in the pot as usual and like i said, just not good "pair behavior". part of me wants to scratch it and get a group of growouts and let a pair form naturally. but i have only 2 years from now until I have to leave for college. is it still worth it with the growouts? idk ugh, sry tht this is long i just wanted to ask some advice from some people with a lot of experience. duanes duanes festaedan festaedan @anyfestaeexperts

I have the similar issue , the female laid eggs and I ended up doing something in the end of the tank , where the female had laid eggs and they abandoned the site.
Since then it has been more than 60 days and no activity of laying eggs.
I feel , waiting out is the better option , as you have just 2 years before you head out....

With many spawns, after eggs are put down, the female will keep the male away.
Many times in nature the female stays close, and the male guards the outer perimeter keeping egg predators 3 to 4 ft away. Although if a predator appears he can't handle, he will be gone.
I find with at least 50% of spawns, removing the male (and any other fish, except the female of course) from the tank is my best option, especially if the tank is only 100 gallons or smaller.
