Need air pump curtain?

I'm wondering If I need to have an air pump in my 90 gal tank? I have a fx5, is there a need for more oxygen? Thanks

i have a fx5 on my 150 with no need for an airpump, as long as you have some surface agitation you should be fine.

should be fine , i aways put a powerhead with water polisher in all my tanks to be safe and it takes dirt from water to stop fx5 clogging as i hate cleaning pads

Not neccesary with plenty of surface agitation. But it never hurts !

Surface agitation allows water at the surface to be oxygenated...

Circulation mixes that oxygenated water aroud the tank...

So technically you need both... But proper circulation is usually a given...

Why would you want to take it out ?

It would be Ok to take out the powerhead, but there would be no reason to do so unless you needed it for something else or have too much current in the tank.
