I saw these guys labeled as red texas cichlid at my LFS and was interested in picking one up, but they look nothing like the pictures I found on google of red texas cichlids. So I was wondering if they change colors as they grow? or are they something else entirely

That looks like a texas. It might be mixed with something else. But it for sure has texas in it.

I was wondering if this was a carpintis instead of a cyano mix. It's going for 13 bucks at Tong's in Brea, and the price just seems to low for a true red texas. So, it is either a carpintis or a cyano, but how can you tell the two apart?
