Hello,
definitely a Polypterus bichir lapradei.
This can be seen when looking at the eyes-mouth-region ... typical descending line - P.e.congicus has a more horizontal line here. Also P.b.bichir has not such a descending line ... the head shape at all is somewhat different as could be seen on the P,b.bichir-related pics here.
There can be different reasons for the pale over-all colouration ... first: the darker the gravel, the darker the bichir (mostly). Also the contrast of the pattern is more visible.
Second: If the bichir is set in the tank shortly before he needs a bit time to acclimate - some will get their typical colouration / pattern after a day, some others need up to two weeks. This is pendent with hiding points and lightning (remember: Most bichirs are creatures of the night).
Greetings
Uwe
