Anyone know what genus and species this is? I'm thinking Myleus but not sure.

I'd love to have some.

My best guess would be Myleus, too. But it's really hard to tell.

wat is this fish and wat is its common name?

There's not even a 100% positive genus identification. How could anybody know a common name?

Very old thread - I bring it back seeking fresher looks and opinions.

With that small adipose, it can not be a Metynnis. Thus, most likely a Myleus or Myloplus. However, hard to tell which, my guess not one of the common ones (e.g., rubrippinnis, schomborgkii, and vars). Very high, and threaded dorsal fin, and relatively long bodyl. Unfortunately no scale.
Certainly a male.
Gorgeous fish! Any more opinions?
