Im gonna change a 300L tank 125x45x50cm (lengtxdepthxheight) / 50x18x20" i have in my hobbyroom. It will be a heavily planted show tank. (im selling plants locally)
I want to add some nice fish and have decided to go with some angelfish, preferably blue colored, a few were imported here (for the first time i think).

Wanted to get some ideas of smaller fish to go with them, preferably some small colorful schooling fish and a cleaning crew.

This is the tank, it is, and will be an open-top-tank :)

Hi.. Looks like it's gonna be a great tank for angels..:thumbsup:
My favorite schooling fish that I've had with both discus and angels are rummynoses.. IME If you get them large or grow them out large before adding them or if the angels are small, then there is no problem with them being eaten.. I've had them with adult angels with no issues.. Be sure you get a large school... I had 30 in my 120 gallon and it was awesome to watch.. Any wide bodied tetra is fine as well.. If they are small enough to fit in an angels mouth they may eventually get eaten.. neons and guppies are out:ROFL::ROFL:
I keep my angels at almost discus temps in the 80's... so alot depends on your plants.. if they can handle 82, then rams would be great in their as well.. if not then Bolivian rams would work well too.. Your temps are also gonna determine the cory type if you choose to have those.. I've had bn at all temps including high dicus temps so those would be fine..
Really any of the dwarves (rams, apisto, dorsiger etc) would work well.. A lot depends on the look you are going for, your water and the availability of stock.. If you have anything particular in mind let us know and we can give some more specific advice... HTH Sue:D

Blue rams are a much better option for high temperature tanks with Fahrenheit not below 80 degrees. Bolivians work better in cooler waters. It's just the opposite between two species.

How about some type of Cory Cat for the bottom?:D

Sterbei cories do well in water with higher temps. Of course cardinal tetras are awesome if you looking of color.

the larger Angels get, the more likely they will take out rummys and especially cardinals/neons........ how about columbian tetras, black/red phantoms, lemon tetras, bleeding heart tetras, basically any larger bodied tetras would be better for angelfish so that they would randomly disappear.

cories would take care of cleaning up.....

looks like it will be a good angel tank and keep us updated:D

My feelings:

Columbians - would not be a good idea as they are very active and fin nippers. They might bother the angels too much.

Phantom tetras - as with Columbian tetras find slow moving fish especially tasty and have been known to gang up on them and rip angel fins until there is almost none left.

Lemon tetras - would not be a bad choice and the colored eges of the fins will give a nice "little" splash of color.

Bleeding heart tetras- I feel these are touch and go as they there are many mixed reviews. I think if your school is large enough and there is enough plants and driftwood to frolic about in, fin nipping shouldn't become too much of a problem.

Rummy nose and cardinal tetras get the same size as lemons with the proper care. Just make sure you buy them at a decent size and you should be fine.

My views. AAnyone care to add?

Don't confuse the serpaes and phantoms. Phantoms are fine but not the serpaes.

Agreed, never had problems with red, black, or four eye phantom tetras being nippy.
